The North Cyprus Dyslexia ( NCDA) was established in 2001 with the motivation of the European Dyslexia Association (of whom we have become members), and the support of the Dyslexia in Scotland Association.

The NCDA is working to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia among the general public. The NCDA centre is run by a small professional team that works with volunteers to provides an accurate information and advice service where parents, students, teachers and professionals can seek help and advice in a private and confidential manner. The centre also provides trained professionals for screening and remediation support.

The NCDA is in close contact with the Education Authority and have in the past academic year 2001-2002 successfully   organized seminars in four different areas of the island, for primary school teachers with regard to the signs and symptoms of dyslexia.

In the year 2002 the NCDA has been successful accepted by

UNOPS for funding of the following named project ``Assistance for those affected by dyslexia``. As part of this project the NCDA plan to work with the Local Education Authority to increase awareness among teachers /parents and the educational profession with regard to dyslexia.

Our association is open to all professional volunteers, who feel they can provide their assistance and work together with us as a team. Our special needs co-ordinators are able to give advice to parents and teachers with regard to remedial support.
